It's been a long time since I posted

Sorry about that. It's not that I didn't have anything to say, it's just that "Life comes at you fast."
I got laid off, hired at a new job and my Guard unit (and me) is now in Afghanistan. I still like the idea of the Faux Fan, because, to be honest with you, I have to work pretty hard to be enthusiastic about baseball and basketball. I have friends who like those sports, so I'll try to enlist their help this year. I've missed the (college) football season by being deployed, but no matter what, there is always next year. I'll give you the arguments for why college football is better than the pro's at the beginning of next season. Meanwhile, "Just wait 'til next year."

Not Everyday

Baseball teams don't play everyday. They usually get about day of rest each week, in between series (multiple games against another team). They travel to another city, then they play 3 or 4 games (a game each day) and then they travel again. The travel and the series help spread the wealth so teams get to use their (mostly) new stadiums and cash in on their fans exuberance.

More Home Runs!

Pretty exciting game with a lot of runs scored, mostly off of home runs. Not exactly a pitching duel. Albert Pujols hit two home runs, not very common (for someone to hit more than one in a game. Runners scored off of each increasing Pujols's RBI (Runs Batted In). Batters get credit for each run the assist in scoring. That's the RBI number in the statistics.

HIt by Pitch - Tony's Double Standard?

The Cardinals got clobbered by the Angels again on Saturday, 9-3. NOt much happened in the game that was noteworthy, except...

Tony LaRussa has always been pretty outspoken about pitchers hitting batters, and recently indicated he thought it would be appropriate for some type of suspension for pitchers who hit a batter. Reliever Brandon Looper hit a batter in the elbow. What will Tony do or say about that incident? Hmmm... remains to be seen.
